Oregon is located on the coast of the Pacific Ocean. The mild conditions endemic to this geography mean that Oregon has a very high agricultural output, which includes the production of 95% of the hazelnuts grown in the United States. The current population of Oregon is 3,641,056 people. Oregon became a state in 1859, with its capital located Salem. The most populous city in Oregon is Portland.
