Fun Wyoming Facts

Wyoming is dead last in terms of population among the states with only 509, 294 year-round inhabitants. However, Wyoming's population can be considered to be 16 times as many, as 8 million visitors every year make their way into the sprawling National Parks of the state. This includes Yellowstone National Park, which was the very first National Park to be established in the United States. In fact, Wyoming has a history of firsts; it was the first state to allow suffrage to women, as well as the first state to elect a woman governor with the election of Nellie Tayloe Ross in 1925. Wyoming gained acceptance into the Union in 1890, with its capital located at Cheyenne.
